In
order to help local companies initiate and/or further
develop international trade opportunities, the RI
Export Assistance Center (RIEAC) has established
an innovative market research service known as the
Country & Industry Program (C&I). Through
the C&I Program, RI businesses can identify
potential foreign trade opportunities by country
/ region, or by industry. These market research
projects, which are managed by the RIEAC's International
Trade Consultants, are tailored to meet the specific
needs of a given company and their product(s). In
addition to providing companies with a custom market
research report, Consultants work closely with each
client company to offer guidance / advice related
to both the research and international trade, in
general. Student interns provide Consultants with
valuable market research support, for the benefit
of each client-company.
The
RIEAC recognizes that some companies will require
international trade-related consulting that goes
beyond the parameters of the C&I Program. Such
services are available, on a fee-for-service basis,
through the International
Business Team (IB Team) at the John H. Chafee
Center for International Business.
Note:
The C&I Program is made possible through funding
from the United States Economic Development Administration
(EDA). The ultimate goal of this federally-funded
program is to increase Rhode Island exports from
a current total of $1 billion to a future total
of $2 billion, by the year 2005.
